Liverpool Hijack Newcastle Deal to Sign Victor Munoz

Liverpool have officially confirmed the signing of Spanish winger Victor Munoz from Osasuna, completing a dramatic transfer that saw the Premier League giants hijack Newcastle United’s pursuit of the player.
Munoz, 22, had been on the verge of joining Newcastle after the Magpies reportedly agreed a €30 million deal with Osasuna.
However, Liverpool moved swiftly to activate the winger’s €40 million release clause, securing his services and once again frustrating their rivals.
Osasuna confirmed the agreement, noting that the transfer remains subject to a successful work permit application and international clearance.
Munoz arrives at Anfield after a breakout campaign in La Liga, where he scored seven goals and provided five assists in 36 appearances.
Having joined Osasuna from Real Madrid last summer, his performances quickly established him as one of Spain’s brightest young talents.
The winger made his senior debut for Spain in March against Serbia, marking the occasion with a goal. He is currently part of Spain’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, further underlining his rising profile on the international stage.
