NFF, FIFA Seek Fresh Path for Nigeria’s Amateur Football With New Report

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and FIFA will on Wednesday and Thursday in Abuja present the Amateur Football Environment Report of Nigeria, the outcome of a multi-year assessment of the country’s lower-tier football environment.

The two-day presentation will take place at Sandralia Hotel in Wuye, with FIFA technical experts Amr Moheb, Amateur Football Analysis Manager, and Etienne Sockeng, Regional Technical Consultant with the FIFA Global Football Development Division, leading the sessions.

NFF President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, MON, is expected to declare the event open on Wednesday, when the FIFA team will present the findings to the NFF Executive Committee, management and staff.

The Thursday session will bring together the NFF and a broad range of external stakeholders, including representatives of the National Sports Commission, Federal Ministry of Education, Nigeria Olympic Committee, National Institute for Sports, NFF Technical and Development Committee, Nigeria Football Coaches Association, school football organisations, Women’s Football Committee, leagues, sporting media, medical and refereeing committees, junior national team coaches, Beach Soccer and Futsal League, clubs and academies.

The report, produced by FIFA’s Global Football Development Division in collaboration with the NFF, is expected to provide a detailed assessment of the structures and activities within Nigeria’s amateur football environment.

The presentation will also provide an opportunity for stakeholders to examine the challenges facing grassroots football, share ideas and explore areas of collaboration aimed at strengthening the lower levels of the game.

The NFF said the ultimate objective is to use the findings and recommendations from the report to develop Nigeria’s amateur football and create a stronger foundation for the country’s future football development.
