Amusan: ‘I am not very happy with where I am but I trust in the process even when it is not necessarily processing right’
Nigerian storms to first Diamond League win of season, moves second in standing
Tobi Amusan finally got her first Daimond League win of the season but the Nigerian is not too happy with the progress she has made so far as she gets ready
to defend her 100m hurdles world title next month in Budapest, Hungary.
The world record holder ran 12.52 in very cold conditions to win at the Stockholm Diamond League meeting ahead of Lavin Sarah of Ireland (12.73) and Poland’s
Skrzyszowska Pia (12.78).
The 26 year old also moved within one point (15) of reigning Olympic champion, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn who tops the event’s standing after her two wins in Doha
and Lausanne.
Amusan expressed delight at getting the win but was not happy with where she is at the moment with less than 50 days to the World Athletics Championships.
‘I am excited to be out here competing and it is great to get the win on the back of Lausanne.
‘The rain stopped but it was still very cold. I am not very happy with where I am but I trust in the process even when it is not necessarily processing right.
‘I trust in my coach and God and myself. I didn´t get especially well warmed up out there as it was so cold but I got through and I am running consistently so that is good. I will go away and get ready for the championships now,’ she said in her post race remarks.
