2023/24 Europa League: Lookman gets chance to score another winner against Liverpool in over two years

Ademola Lookman will not only be relishing the chance to face Liverpool for the seventh time but also score against the Anfield giants for the first time in almost 28 months when he files out with his Serie A side, Atalanta in their Europa League tie next month.

Atalanta were Friday drawn to face Liverpool in the last eight of the competition with the Nigerian travelling with his teammates to Anfield on April 11 for the first leg before hosting the Reds in the reverse fixture on April 18 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo.

Lookman scored for Atalanta in the last 16 tie to set up next month’s game with Liverpool and the 26 old who has scored once and provided an assist in five Premier League games will be looking to add to that in April.

The Nigerian’s only goal against Liverpool was the only goal of the game which gave Leicester City a 1-0 win against their more illustrious opponents.

That game was played at the King Power stadium on December 28, 2021 with the goal scored on 59 minutes from a Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s assist.

Lookman was also in action the previous season to inspire Fulham to take four points off Liverpool in the Premier League by providing the assist for the 1-1 draw at the Craven Cottage in the first meeting.

He was on for 83 minutes at Anfield where Fulham stole all three points courtsey of a Mario Lemina’s first half stoppage time goal.

Lookman has featured six times against Liverpool and has won twice and lost thrice.
