Osimhen missing in Serie A striker of the year shortlist!

Nigeria and Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen is conspicuously missing as the Lega Serie A have officially revealed their three-player shortlist for the Striker of the Year prize as part of the division’s annual MVP awards.

Osimhen, winner of the award last season when he emerged the first African to be crowned Serie A top scorer will be succeded by one of AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, Paulo Dybala of Roma and Juventus leading goalscorer Dusan Vlahovic.

Serie A confirm that the awards are based on a number of different metrics, including stats recorded from tracking data and the ‘scientifically validated’ player rating system, which measures players’ in-game impact, movement and decision making.

Previous winners include Lazio captain Ciro Immobile, Cristiano Ronaldo during his Juventus spell, Immobile once more, and Fabio Quagliarella of Sampdoria in the inaugural year.
