Onuachu nets third hat-trick for RC Genk in 105 games
Nigerian international forward Paul Onuachu was on target thrice for RC Genk who walloped visiting KAS Eupen 5-0 at the Luminus Arena Sunday evening.
The 27 year old was back in the squad after missing the 3-1 loss at Club Brugge just before the international break last month opened scoring for the host on 11 minutes when he converted a spot kick.
He doubled the lead with another spot kick goal in first half added time to give RC Genk a 2-0 advantage going into the break.
On resumption of the second half, Junya Ito (46th min) and Bryan Heynen (68th min) doubled the advantage before the tall Nigerian added the gloss with a third goal on 80 minutes to complete the route.
This would be the third time Onuachu would score a hat-trick in 104 games across all competitions for RC Genk albeit the hat-trick all came in the Jupiler League.
Interestingly two of the hat-tricks have come against KAS Eupen. The first was in January last year when the Nigerian netted thrice in a 4-1 away win at the Kehrwegstadion.
The goal brought Onuachu’s tally against KAS Eupen to eight goals in six appearances. He also has an assist against the club.
Onuachu has now scored eight times against two clubs in the Jupiler League. Prior to Sunday evening’s win against KAS Eupen, the Nigerian has scored eight times and bagged two assists against Royal Antwerp in six Jupiler League games. He has also scored once and bagged two assists in two playoff games against the club.
