Atalanta to Fine Lookman Over Inter Milan Transfer Standoff
Atalanta BC are reportedly preparing to take disciplinary action against Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman at the end of August, following his absence from training amid ongoing transfer speculation linking him to Inter Milan.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, the Bergamo-based club intends to fine the 27-year-old and dock his wages for failing to report to training since last weekend.
Lookman’s absence is seen as a strategic move to pressure Atalanta into facilitating his desired transfer to Inter Milan. The former RB Leipzig and Leicester City forward believes the club had previously assured him of a summer exit and expects them to honor that commitment.
However, Atalanta have yet to respond formally to his actions. The club reportedly views his conduct as unacceptable and plans to impose sanctions at the end of the month rather than immediately.
Lookman is currently outside Italy and has not maintained communication with the club or its management. His representatives have also remained silent, further fueling tensions.
The disciplinary measures will include: Wage deductions for missed training sessions and a formal fine for breach of conduct.
