Iheanacho Brace Fires Bursaspor Top, Takes Tally To 11

Kelechi Iheanacho continued his remarkable start to life at Bursaspor, scoring twice to inspire a 2-1 comeback win over Batman Petrolspor and take his tally to 11 goals in eight Turkish 1. Lig appearances this season.

Batman Petrolspor took the lead through Matheus Dória in the 29th minute and held the advantage until half-time.

But Iheanacho turned the game around after the break, equalising in the 60th minute before completing Bursaspor’s comeback with his second goal in the 85th minute.

The brace means the Nigeria international has now scored in five of his eight league appearances this season and has netted 11 goals in the campaign.

Iheanacho has been a regular starter for Bursaspor, playing all eight league matches so far, with his only goal-less appearances coming in the club’s 1-0 win over Igdir FK and 2-1 victory over Karagümrük.

His scoring run began with a goal in the opening-day 2-0 defeat to Bodrum FK before he found the net against Kayserispor and scored twice in each of Bursaspor’s last three wins over Istanbulspor, Manisa FK and Batman Petrolspor.

Bursaspor’s latest victory keeps them unbeaten in their last seven league games after their opening-day defeat and strengthens their position at the top end of the table.

For Iheanacho, the two-goal display further underlines his outstanding early-season form in Turkey, where he has quickly established himself as Bursaspor’s leading attacking threat.
