NPFL Warns Warri Wolves Over Coach Suspension, Says Technical Bench Access at Risk
The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has raised concerns over Warri Wolves’ handling of the reported suspension of head coach Aluma Napoleon, citing procedural breaches in the club’s contract management.
In a formal letter titled ‘Notarization and Registration of Contracts’, signed by NPFL Chief Operating Officer Davidson Owumi, the league body criticized the club’s failure to submit contracts for its technical and management staff, as required by the NPFL Framework and Rules for the 2025/26 season.
The letter referenced media reports indicating that the Delta State Sports Commission had suspended Coach Napoleon with immediate effect. However, the NPFL emphasized that Warri Wolves had not registered any official contracts with the League Board, violating Section B, Articles 6 and 11 of the league’s regulations.
Warri Wolves was given a 24-hour deadline to submit all relevant contracts, including that of Coach Napoleon, to the NPFL Secretariat. The league warned that failure to comply could result in the club being barred from accessing the technical bench during future matches.
‘Note that failure to comply with this instruction will lead to the restriction of your technical team from accessing the technical area in future NPFL matches,’ the letter stated.
Owumi further clarified to NPFL Media that Warri Wolves is not the only club under scrutiny. He urged all coaches to secure copies of their contracts and report any violations to the league.
‘It is the responsibility of the aggrieved to petition the league at all times,’ Owumi stressed, reinforcing the NPFL’s commitment to contractual transparency and accountability across all clubs.
