Chukwuemeka Chooses Austria Over England and Nigeria

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has officially committed his international future to Austria.
Born in Vienna but raised in Northampton, the former Aston Villa and Chelsea prospect had previously represented England at youth levels from Under-17 to Under-20.
FIFA has now cleared the 20-year-old to switch allegiance, making him eligible to feature for Austria at this summer’s World Cup.
Austria will compete in Group J alongside Jordan, Algeria, and reigning champions Argentina.
Ralf Rangnick’s side is preparing for the tournament with friendlies against Ghana and South Korea later this month. Although Chukwuemeka was also eligible to represent Nigeria, he has opted against joining the Super Eagles, signaling a firm commitment to Austria’s national team project.
