Why Galatasaray May Struggle to Sell Osimhen

Victor Osimhen’s move to Galatasaray in 2025 was one of football’s most talked about transfers, with the Nigerian striker arriving from Napoli for €75 million.

A year later, his market value remains almost unchanged, and according to Transfermarkt’s Lara Karacan, that stability reflects more than just his performances.

Karacan describes Osimhen as ‘a brand,’ a figure whose name carries weight beyond goals and assists.

His elevated valuation underscores his profile, but it also highlights the challenge Galatasaray face in finding a buyer. Within the Süper Lig, no player comes close to his market value, and the pool of potential suitors is shrinking.

Serie A is effectively off the table. A clause in Galatasaray’s agreement with Napoli prevents a sale to Italian clubs for at least two seasons, ruling out Juventus, who have been linked with him.

That leaves the Premier League as the only realistic destination, but Karacan notes there have been ‘literally no rumours.’

With Galatasaray unwilling to accept less than €100 million and Osimhen’s salary beyond the reach of most clubs, the path to a summer exit looks narrow.

His numbers in Turkey are respectable, 11 goals in 18 league games and a strong Champions League group stage, but Karacan stresses that domestic success alone won’t unlock top-club interest.

‘He has to show himself on the highest stage, and that is the Champions League,’ she explained.

Without a defining performance against elite opposition, Osimhen’s name may continue to dominate transfer discussions without producing a deal.
