Police Corporal Ukah Set for PFL Africa Showdown with Osigwe in Pretoria

Police corporal and unbeaten strawweight contender Juliet ‘Golden Bones’ Ukah will step into the cage against fellow Nigerian Jane ‘The Slayer’ Osigwe when PFL Africa launches its Season 2 opener at SunBet Arena in Pretoria.

The women’s 115‑pound showcase joins a stacked card headlined by bantamweight champion Nkosi ‘King’ Ndebele versus Italy’s Michele Clemente, with heavyweight contender Justin Clarke meeting Senegal’s Abdoulaye Kane in the co‑main event.

Ukah, 26, enters the bout with a perfect 8‑0 professional record, including two victories under the PFL Africa banner.

She outpointed South Africa’s Ceileigh Niedermayr in Cape Town last July and followed up with a first‑round TKO of Egypt’s Maryam Gaber at the Africa Finals in Cotonou, Benin.

A trailblazer in the sport, Ukah was the first African‑born female fighter to sign with PFL and has quickly become one of the most visible figures in women’s MMA on the continent.

Her journey began unexpectedly in 2022 when she accepted a short‑notice fight in Cameroon after being approached by Henry George, now head of the Nigeria Mixed Martial Arts Federation.

‘I barely knew the rules at the time,’ Ukah recalls, ‘but I won that debut and I haven’t lost since.’ She went on to collect wins in EFC, Imbgim FC, and other African promotions before joining PFL.

Outside the cage, Ukah serves as a corporal in the Nigeria Police Force, a career inspired by Chioma Ajunwa, the police officer who won Nigeria’s first Olympic gold medal in Atlanta 1996.

‘It’s so special, because yesterday we celebrated Police Day,’ Ukah said. ‘It’s like combining the force and the sport, so it’s a very special thing for me.’

Looking ahead to Pretoria, Ukah emphasized the significance of the platform.

‘I want to say it’s going to be a great, massive explosion, because it’s going to be something good that women in MMA in Africa are looking up to. It’s something we’re going to grow, and not just in Africa, we’re going to take over the continent and the world very soon,’ she said.

Her opponent, 20‑year‑old Jane Osigwe, arrives with a 5‑3 record and an interim title from African Knockout (AKO), the promotion launched by former UFC champion Kamaru Usman.

Osigwe claimed the AKO women’s bantamweight interim belt last August by defeating Morocco’s Sanaa Mandar in Abuja. Known for her pressure and forward movement, she now makes her PFL debut while dropping down to strawweight.

Ukah, who favors a patient, kick‑heavy style with strong takedown defense, welcomes the challenge.

‘It’s a great pleasure, not just having only me on the card but having other Nigerians too,’ she said. ‘In case the opportunity comes and I go global, then I know that back home we have other Nigerians who are also competing at this level.’

Her message to Osigwe was simple: ‘I don’t have much to say for my opponent, just make sure you are preparing well.’
