Nigeria Boxing Federation Denies Emergency Meeting Rumors
The Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) has urged the public and sports media to disregard reports of an alleged emergency board meeting in Abuja, describing the claims as malicious and misleading.
The disclaimer follows false publications suggesting that the federation’s board members were summoned for an emergency meeting.
Professor Musa Yakasai, Chairman of the NBF Ethics and Disciplinary Committee, stressed that any information not issued through the federation’s official communication channels should be ignored.
‘The ethics and disciplinary committee has already taken steps to address this falsehood. These selfish individuals are attempting to derail the ongoing reforms initiated by the current NBF board. Hence, the malicious and misleading information they are pushing to the public,’ Yakasai stated.
NBF General Secretary, Vivian Azimene, also condemned the actions of those spreading misinformation.
‘We are not distracted by the activities of these dimwits. Notice of board meetings are not circulated via media publications. As a federation, we have our official communication channel where memos are shared with board members. I urge the public, especially the media, to verify with the federation before entertaining any story that is not an official release,’ Azimene emphasized.
The federation further clarified that any communication purportedly issued by Mr. David Muhammed or Mr. Kunle Adewale should be disregarded, as both individuals have no appointment, contract, or relationship with the Nigeria Boxing Federation.
