Osayi-Samuel: Why I Left Fenerbahçe and Rejected Beşiktaş

Former Fenerbahçe player Bright Osayi-Samuel has spoken candidly about his exit from the Turkish giants and the transfer rumours linking him to Beşiktaş.

The Nigerian-born right-back, now playing for Birmingham City in the English Championship, shared his perspective in an interview with Libero TV.

Reflecting on his time in Istanbul, Osayi-Samuel admitted that leaving Fenerbahçe was not the way he had envisioned.

‘Yes, it’s a long story. I think my departure process was not what I wanted. Many fans and clubs were happy about my departure, but I think a lot of things happened and everyone knew I wanted to go home because I missed my family. I wanted to do it in a way that the club would support me. I have no regrets. Fenerbahçe is still my second family. I will always be grateful to them,’ he said.

The 28-year-old also addressed speculation about a possible move to Beşiktaş.

He clarified that while his former agent had discussions with the club, he personally never engaged in talks.

‘There were a lot of rumours, but I personally did not meet with any team. Even before I signed for Birmingham City, Beşiktaş was an agreement with my former agent. It had nothing to do with me or my father. My father is a die-hard Fenerbahçe fan. Even if I wanted to sign for Beşiktaş, my father would never let me go,’ he explained.
