Galatasaray Confirm Osimhen Cleared to Play Despite Protective Arm Gear

The Turkish Football Federation has responded to Fenerbahçe’s application regarding Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen ahead of Sunday’s highly anticipated derby.

Fenerbahçe had formally raised concerns that the hard protective material worn by Osimhen following his arm surgery posed a risk to opposing players.

The Nigerian forward sustained the injury during Galatasaray’s Champions League clash with Liverpool and has since been competing with a reinforced arm guard.

According to reports in Milliyet, Galatasaray officials confirmed that all necessary permits have been secured for Osimhen’s participation.

They emphasized that FIFA and UEFA regulations strictly monitor player equipment, ensuring no risk to health or safety.

A Galatasaray statement noted: “The necessary permissions have been obtained. FIFA acts within the limits of UEFA. Moreover, everything is checked before or during a player’s match. If something had happened to endanger the health of the athlete, Osimhen would not have been able to play in the cup.

‘Why didn’t those who asked this or applied for it wonder about Dzeko last year? How did Dzeko and En-Nesyri play with bandages on their arms?”

With the clearance confirmed, Osimhen is expected to feature in Sunday’s derby, adding further intrigue to one of the most fiercely contested fixtures in Turkish football.
