CAF Re-Admits Nigeria Into Elite Coaching Convention
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially reinstated Nigeria into the CAF A Coaching Convention, paving the way for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to resume CAF A coaching courses after nearly a decade of absence.
In a letter to the NFF, CAF’s Coaching Education Project Manager, Jaida Zakaria, confirmed the approval of Nigeria’s CAF A course curriculum, noting that the Federation can now submit requests for courses through the CMS, pending an inspection visit.
NFF’s Head of Coaching Education, Dr. Terry Babatunde Eguaoje, hailed the development as ‘truly huge, after nine years,’ emphasizing that the CAF A license now joins the previously approved CAF D, C, and B certifications.
NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, himself a CAF coaching instructor, expressed delight at the breakthrough.
‘We are elated by this positive development for the cause of coaching in our country. The NFF will commence preparations in earnest to put logistics in place for the first CAF A-License coaching course in Nigeria since 2017,’ he said.
This milestone is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s coaching framework and provide advanced training opportunities for local coaches aspiring to reach the highest levels of African football.
