Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, have secured their place at the 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, overcoming a tense second-leg battle against Malawi’s Young Scorchers to win 3-2 on aggregate.

The Falconets, who carried a 2-0 cushion from the first leg in Ikenne, endured a difficult afternoon in Lilongwe.

Malawi struck twice to level the tie, but substitute Precious Oscar delivered the decisive moment in the 62nd minute, pressing high to dispossess a defender and calmly slot home.

Despite losing 2-1 on the day, Nigeria’s aggregate advantage held firm, preserving their proud record of never missing a World Cup final tournament at this level.

Coach Moses Aduku’s side showed resilience under pressure, managing the closing stages with composure to ensure Nigeria’s flag will fly in Poland from 5-26 September 2026.
