‘A Lot Can Happen on Final Day’: Foden Says City Must Keep Pushing in Title Race

Phil Foden admitted Manchester City’s 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace was ‘massively important’ as the champions kept the Premier League title race alive for another week.

Speaking after the match, Foden praised the impact of returning teammates such as Josko Gvardiol and highlighted the squad’s readiness despite the pressure of the run-in.
‘It’s a massive game, must win, so we are really happy,’ he told Sky Sports.

Foden’s inventive backheel assist for Antoine Semenyo’s opener was a standout moment, and he explained the thought process behind it.

‘I checked a few times before receiving the ball and I saw Ant make a good movement. Sometimes a risk is worth taking and I’m delighted it came off,’ he said.

Reflecting on his own season, the midfielder admitted he had endured ups and downs.

‘I had a good half season, then dropped off a bit and struggled to find my place. It happens when you have quality players around you, so I had to be patient and train hard. When you get your moment you have to take it.’

Looking ahead to the title race, Foden stressed the importance of the collective effort.

‘It’s a team game at the end of the day. The aim is to keep pushing and keep them on their toes. We’ve seen a lot of things can happen on the final day. I’ve experienced it many times when the game doesn’t go your way. We just have to keep doing our part.’

City’s win keeps them within two points of Arsenal, with two matches left to play, ensuring the race will go down to the wire.
