Maikaba Names 35-Man Flying Eagles Squad for WAFU B Championship
Nigeria’s U20 Boys Begin Preparations in Abuja Ahead of July Tournament

Head Coach Abdu Maikaba has invited 35 players to the camp of Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles, as preparations begin for the WAFU B U20 Championship scheduled to take place in Côte d’Ivoire in July.
The squad list includes three goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 11 midfielders, and 11 forwards, reflecting Maikaba’s intent to build a balanced team as he begins his tenure with the national side.
All players are expected to report to camp in Abuja on Saturday, 16 May, where training will commence immediately.
Among the notable call-ups are Clinton Lawani (Sporting Lagos), Abubakar Rufai (NK-Istra 1961, Croatia), and Uchechukwu Aloysius (Akwa United) in goal.
The defensive lineup features talents such as Ayinla Olayomi (Warri Wolves), Wahab Bolanle Musa (FC Malaga, Spain), and Mutari Momoh (NK-Istra 1961, Croatia).
Midfield options include Victor Samuel (Sporting Lagos), Sale Abdulrashid (Kryubar FC, Ukraine), and Simon Karshe Cletus (FC Rijeka, Croatia), while the attack boasts Imrana Mohammed (FC Alaves, Spain), Peter Pam Davou (Vitkovice, Czech Republic), and Seun Akanji (Sporting Lagos).
The Flying Eagles, who have a rich history of success at youth level, will be aiming to assert their dominance in West Africa once again.
