Rivers United Players’ Bus Involved in Road Accident, No Fatalities Reported

Rivers United Football Club has confirmed that its players and officials were involved in a road traffic accident on Thursday while traveling to Awka, Anambra State, for the President Federation Cup Round of 16 fixture against Nasarawa United.

The incident occurred along the Obiri-Ikwerre Airport Road on the outskirts of Port Harcourt shortly after the team departed from the club’s camp.

The club has reported that several players and officials sustained minor injuries, but thankfully no fatalities or life-threatening injuries have been recorded. All affected individuals are receiving medical attention and are in stable condition.

In a statement signed by Media Officer Charles Mayuku, Rivers United emphasized that the safety, health, and well-being of its players and officials remain the club’s utmost priority.

The medical team is closely monitoring those involved, while management continues to assess the situation and make necessary arrangements.
