Rennes Enter Race with Dortmund for Emmanuel Fernandez

Rennes have joined Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Rangers centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez, as the Ligue 1 side look to bolster their defensive ranks ahead of the new season.
The 24-year-old Nigeria international has enjoyed a rapid rise since arriving at Ibrox from Peterborough United for around £3.5 million last year.
Fernandez established himself as one of the standout defenders in the Scottish Premiership, scoring five goals in 27 league appearances and earning Rangers’ Player of the Season award.
His performances also secured him three senior caps for Nigeria.
According to French outlet Ouest-France, Fernandez is one of three central defenders on Rennes’ shortlist as they assess reinforcements for their backline.
The French club are expected to face stiff competition, with Feyenoord, Bayer Leverkusen, and Borussia Dortmund also closely monitoring the highly rated defender.
