Rooney Pleads with Kane: Join Man United and Chase Shearer’s Record

Wayne Rooney has publicly called on Harry Kane to leave Bayern Munich this summer and make a sensational move to Manchester United, urging the England captain to chase Alan Shearer’s all-time Premier League goalscoring record.
Kane, 32, enjoyed a prolific 2025/26 season, scoring 61 goals and providing seven assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
With one year left on his current contract, the striker is being closely monitored by Barcelona, even as speculation grows about his future during the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
The former Tottenham Hotspur forward recently surpassed Gary Lineker’s World Cup tally, taking his total to 11 goals after netting against Panama. His exploits have further intensified debate over his next career move.
Rooney, who has been following the rumours, made his appeal clear this week: ‘I think everyone would have an interest. Listen, if Harry Kane’s not going to stay at Bayern Munich then I’d love him at Manchester United. If he’s listening: ‘Harry, you’ve got Alan Shearer’s record there… help get Manchester United back!’.’
Rooney added: ‘You think for Harry Kane, he’s won the Bundesliga and let’s say he goes to Barcelona, he wins La Liga… deep down he wants to win the Premier League. Imagine he comes to Manchester United and he’s the one to drive that, to get Manchester United back to winning the league.’
Kane has already cemented his legacy at Bayern, registering 146 goals in just three seasons to become the club’s seventh-highest scorer in history.
Yet, with Barcelona circling, Rooney insists United must act quickly if they are to lure one of the world’s best strikers back to England.
