Arokodare Hits Back at ‘Inaccurate’ Reports After Wolves Training Session Controversy

Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Tolu Arokodare has rejected reports surrounding the cancellation of a training session at the club, insisting that several accounts of the incident were inaccurate.

The 25-year-old Nigerian has been at the centre of controversy after Wolves manager Cesar Peixoto reportedly halted Monday’s training session at Compton Park following a dispute involving the striker and the first-team group.

Arokodare, who is widely expected to leave Molineux this summer, was subsequently left out of Wolves’ squad for Wednesday’s 1-0 friendly victory over Maidenhead United.

The Nigerian forward responded to the reports on social media, expressing his disappointment over the coverage of the incident.

‘I was very surprised and disappointed to see the media reports today, many of which are inaccurate,’ Arokodare wrote.

‘Throughout my career, I have always taken great pride in conducting myself professionally and maintaining the highest training standards.

‘My commitment has always been to prepare myself as well as possible so that I can contribute to my teammates and the club whenever I am called upon.

‘I remain under contract with Wolves, and my only intention is to fulfil my responsibilities professionally by training, doing my job, and contributing to the team in accordance with that contract.’

Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian club Genk for £24 million last summer but scored only three Premier League goals as the club were relegated from the top flight.

The striker has been linked with a move away from Wolves, with Fiorentina reportedly among the clubs interested in signing him after he rejected the opportunity to join Turkish side Trabzonspor.

Arokodare also faced disciplinary action in April following a dressing-room altercation with teammate Mateus Mané during a 4-0 defeat to West Ham United.
