Ejeheri: Representing Nigeria Would Be Biggest Achievement of My Career

FC Midtjylland goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri has revealed that representing Nigeria at senior international level would be the biggest achievement of his career, despite being eligible to play for England and Uganda.

The 23-year-old London-born goalkeeper was invited to train with Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles during the 2026 Unity Cup campaign in London, an opportunity he described as a significant step in his career.

‘Representing Nigeria would mean a lot to me. It would definitely be the biggest achievement of my career and something I’m looking forward to the most,’ Ejeheri told Flashscore.

The former Arsenal and Fredericia goalkeeper, who was invited to an England youth training camp in 2020, acknowledged the competition for places in Nigeria’s goalkeeping department but believes regular football at club level will be key to his chances.

‘Of course, there are a lot of good Nigerian goalkeepers, so it’s up to me to perform as well as I can for my club. Playing regularly is the most important thing for me. As long as I’m playing, anything can happen,’ he added.

Ejeheri also reflected on Midtjylland’s 2025/26 campaign, admitting disappointment after the club missed out on the Danish Superliga title despite believing they had the best squad in the country.

Midtjylland, however, ended the season with silverware after defeating Copenhagen 1-0 in the Danish Cup final and will begin their new campaign with a Europa League qualifying clash against Turkish giants Besiktas.
