‘Do Everything Possible’: Iheanacho Reveals Why He Chose Bursaspor Over Celtic

Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho has broken his silence on his decision to leave Celtic and join Turkish second-tier club Bursaspor.

The 29-year-old, who played a key role in Celtic’s Scottish Premiership triumph last season with several crucial late goals, said Bursaspor’s ambitious project convinced him to make the move.

Despite reports that money influenced his decision, club president Enes Celik said Iheanacho earns £23,000 per week and chose the club because of its plans to return to the Turkish Super Lig and compete in Europe.

‘When I heard about their project, that they wanted to climb up to the Super Lig and also play in Europe, I said that this is a big project and it’s very good for me to come and be involved and help the team,’ Iheanacho said.

The former Manchester City and Leicester City forward added: ‘I asked my agent to make sure he does everything possible to make sure I come to Bursaspor. My target is for us to go to the Super Lig.’

Iheanacho also noted the similarities between Bursaspor and Celtic, with both clubs wearing green and white, although he admitted Bursaspor’s colours are a darker shade of green.
