Barcelona Complete £65.4m Signing of Rodri from Manchester City

Barcelona have completed the signing of Spain midfielder Rodri from Manchester City in a deal worth £65.4m, bringing an end to the 30-year-old’s hugely successful spell at the Premier League club.

The Spain international has signed a four-year contract with Barcelona after the Catalan giants saw initial offers of £40m and £55m rejected by City.

With Rodri having just one year remaining on his contract, Barcelona’s third bid eventually proved too attractive for the English champions to reject.

Rodri leaves Manchester City after playing a central role in one of the most successful periods in the club’s history.

Since arriving from Atletico Madrid in 2019, he has helped City win four Premier League titles and the Champions League, while also establishing himself as one of the world’s leading defensive midfielders.

His departure represents a major challenge for City, with the club now searching for reinforcements in midfield. City are in talks with Lille over Morocco international Ayyoub Bouaddi, who is reportedly valued at around £85m, while they also retain an interest in Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
