Troy Parrott rejected Galatasaray move over Osimhen role

Republic of Ireland striker Troy Parrott reportedly rejected a move to Galatasaray because he did not want to play as Victor Osimhen’s understudy.

Parrott emerged as one of the names considered by the Turkish champions as they looked to strengthen their striking options.

However, Turkish journalist Ali Naci Küçük claimed the 24-year-old made it clear he would not join Galatasaray to play second fiddle to Osimhen.

‘Troy Parrott also costs around €20 million, but the player said, ‘I’m not the second man, I won’t come behind Osimhen!’ and that’s why he went to Real Betis,’ Küçük said.

Parrott subsequently joined Real Betis from AZ Alkmaar, signing a contract until June 2031. The move reportedly includes a €16 million release clause.

The decision means Galatasaray will continue their search for another striker to provide competition and cover for Osimhen.
