Arsenal Developing Next Generation of Nigerian Stars as Ife Ibrahim Makes Carabao Cup Debut
Arsenal could be developing another Nigerian star in the mould of Bukayo Saka, Alex Iwobi, Semi Ajayi, Chuba Akpom and Ebere Eze after Ifeoluwa Ibrahim made his second senior appearance for the Gunners in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup clash against Ipswich Town.
Ibrahim came off the bench in the 85th minute for Martin Zubimendi as Arsenal secured a 4-2 victory over the fellow Premier League side at Portman Road.
The appearance was Ibrahim’s Carabao Cup debut and another milestone in the rapid development of the 18-year-old, who made his senior Arsenal debut in January in the UEFA Champions League.
Ibrahim was introduced alongside long-time academy teammate Brando Bailey-Joseph when he made his first-team bow in Arsenal’s 3-2 Champions League victory over Kairat Almaty.
The powerful defensive midfielder build his reputation as a workhorse during the 2025/26 season, making 29 academy appearances across five competitions at different age levels.
He also scored three goals in Premier League 2, while his no-nonsense and dedicated approach to his football and development helped earn him a professional contract and his first-team opportunity.
