Flamingos Maintain Perfect WAFU-B U17 Run with Burkina Faso Win

Nigeria’s Flamingos maintained their perfect start to the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup with a 2-0 victory over Burkina Faso at the Charles Konan Banny Stadium in Yamoussoukro on Monday.

The Flamingos dominated possession and pressed high in a tightly contested first half but were unable to find a breakthrough as Burkina Faso’s defence held firm.

Nigeria continued to increase the pressure after the interval, keeping the Burkinabe pinned back and creating several opportunities, particularly from set pieces.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 82nd minute when Mary Dunstan fired Nigeria ahead with a well-taken finish.

Burkina Faso struggled to respond as the Flamingos maintained control, and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi sealed the victory with a second goal in added time.

The win gives Nigeria a maximum nine points from three matches and keeps the Flamingos at the top of the table with a perfect record.

The Flamingos, who finished runners-up at the inaugural edition in Ghana two years ago, will now turn their attention to their next fixture as they continue their campaign in Yamoussoukro.
