Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has returned to Fenerbahçe, where he was warmly welcomed by the Turkish club and its supporters.
Emenike visited the Istanbul club on Wednesday and was received by general secretary Mahmut Uslu and board members Tanju Kaya and Savaş Adalet.
The former Nigerian international expressed his delight at returning to a club where he enjoyed a strong connection with the fans.
‘I feel great. It is a great pleasure for me to be here,’ Emenike said.
‘Feeling this warm welcome makes me incredibly excited. I am very happy and extremely excited to see everyone again.’
The former striker also highlighted the relationship he has maintained with Fenerbahçe supporters since leaving the club.
‘I am very pleased that the bond between us and our fans still continues. We are a big family in this club,’ he said.
‘That’s why it’s so important for me to talk and chat with them all the time. They always ask me questions during matches. I keep in touch with them by talking to them frequently. I am very happy that this dialogue is like this.’
Emenike was also presented with the No. 29 jersey he wore during his time at Fenerbahçe, with Uslu making the presentation following the visit.
The Nigerian enjoyed two spells with Fenerbahçe, scoring important goals during his time in Turkey and helping strengthen his reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading forwards of his generation.
