Adefala Stars as Nigeria Book 3×3 Wheelchair Basketball Play-In Spot

Team Nigeria kept their medal hopes alive in the women’s 3×3 wheelchair basketball competition at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games with a hard-fought 7-6 victory over India in their final Pool B match at the SEC Hall 4 on Monday evening.
Nigeria held their nerve in a closely contested encounter, edging India by a single point to seal a crucial win and book a place in the play-in stage of the competition.
The victory came after a determined defensive display in a low-scoring contest that went the full 10 minutes.
Nofisat Adefala produced a match-winning performance, accounting for six of Nigeria’s seven points while also dominating the boards with 12 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds.
Titilayo Olaleye added the other point for Nigeria as the team overcame a poor shooting display to grind out an important victory.
Nigeria finished with 19 rebounds compared to India’s 13 and capitalised on key moments to secure the result despite converting just three of their 20 one-point attempts and four of nine free throws.
India were led by Minakshi Harichandra Jadhav, who scored four points, but the effort was not enough to deny Nigeria a place in the knockout phase as the West Africans progressed with the narrow 7-6 triumph.
