Adeshina set for collegiate outdoor debut; Udo-Gabriel runs wind-aided 11.84 in 100m

All eyes will be on Temitope Adeshina as she makes her collegiate outdoor debut on Saturday at the 2024 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at Mike A. Myers
Stadium in Austin, Texas.

The 25 year old made a grand entry into the American collegiate circuit when she cleared 1.96m indoors to set a Nigerian record in the high jump event.

The African Athletics Championships silver medalist was however able to clear 1.91m to finish fourth at her first appearance in the NCAA division 1 indoor
championships in Boston early this month.

The two-time Nigeria high jump champion will be one of the high jumpers to look out for outdoors as the season begins to gather momentum.

Adeshina will be seeking to become the first Nigerian woman high jumper to clear above the 2m mark.

Meanwhile, the duo of sprinters, Joy Udo-Gabriel and Praise Ofoku ran in the 100m event of the competition Friday night.

Udo-Gabriel sped to a wind-aided (2.6m/s) 11.84 to finish eighth in heat two with Ofoku a step after, also running a wind-aided 11.99.

In the overall classification, Udo-Gabriel finished 35th while Ofoku finished 39th.
