Anari Named Among Best as Nigeria Earn Silver at U18 AfroBasket

Nigeria’s Favour Anari has been rewarded for an impressive campaign at the 2026 FIBA U18 Women’s AfroBasket after being named among the five players in the tournament’s All-Star Team.
Anari’s selection came despite Nigeria’s 77-68 defeat to Mali in Sunday’s Championship Game in Abidjan, with the Nigerian youngster recognised alongside Mali duo Maimouna Traoré and Assan Mariko, Egypt’s Hania Hassabelnaby and Cameroon’s Eveline Toyounon.
Anari was one of Nigeria’s standout performers throughout the tournament, helping the country reach the final and finish with the silver medal as Mali secured a third consecutive continental title.
Traoré was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player after scoring 18 points in Mali’s victory over Nigeria, while her teammate Conde Keita finished as the leading scorer and Best Three-Pointer after averaging 20 points per game.
Cameroon’s Toyounon claimed the Best Rebounder award after averaging 17 rebounds per game, while Benin received the Fair Play Award.
