Aribo Excited to Begin New Chapter at Leicester City
Leicester City have confirmed the loan signing of Nigerian international Joe Aribo from Southampton, with the midfielder set to remain at King Power Stadium until the end of the 2025/26 season, subject to league approval.
Aribo, 29, brings a wealth of experience to the Foxes, having earned 34 caps for Nigeria and made over 400 career appearances across club and country. He arrives after four seasons with Southampton, where he featured 111 times in both the Premier League and Championship.
Speaking to Foxes Hub, Aribo expressed his excitement about the move: ‘For me, it’s amazing to have got it done and I just can’t wait to get going. I’ve always known the squad is good. I’m so certain about where we can get to and what we can do together. It’s just good to be a part of it.’
Born in Camberwell, England, Aribo began his career with Staines Town before moving to Charlton Athletic in 2015.
He became a key figure for the Addicks before joining Rangers in 2019, where he made 149 appearances, scored 26 goals, and helped secure the club’s first league title in a decade. His time in Glasgow also included a Scottish Cup triumph and a goal in the UEFA Europa League final against Eintracht Frankfurt in 2022.
On the international stage, Aribo debuted for Nigeria in 2019 against Ukraine and was part of the Super Eagles squad that reached the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.
He will now link up with his new teammates ahead of Leicester’s upcoming Sky Bet Championship fixture away at Birmingham City on Saturday, February 7.
