Arteta and Saka named Premier League best for March

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta and winger, Bukayo Saka have been named Premier League manager and player of the year respectively for the month of March.

Arteta has become only the third manager in history to win four Premier League Manager of the Month awards in a single season, after Pep Guardiola in 2017-18
(4) and Jürgen Klopp in 2019-20 (5).

The Spaniard helped the Gunners stretch their lead at the top of the Premier League table to eight points above Manchester City.

His team scored an incredible 14 goals in four matches, beating Everton, AFC Bournemouth, Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Arteta beat fellow nominees Roberto De Zerbi, Unai Emery and Pep Guardiola after votes from the public were combined with those of a panel of experts.

The 41 year old’s win makes it a double sweep for Arsenal, after Saka was also named Player of the Month for the first time in his career.

For the first time since 2003/04, Arsenal have won multiple Premier League Player of the Month awards in a single seasonafter Thierry Henry (January), Dennis
Bergkamp & Edu (February) and Thierry Henry (April) won in 2003/04 season.

This season, Martin Ødegaard won in November/December and Saka has now been named the best for the month of March.

Saka scored three goals and provided two assists in four appearances, helping Arsenal win every match in the month under consideration.
