Boniface gets final chance to make history as Nigerian all-time top scorer in the Europa League

Victor Boniface has been handed the final chance to make history as Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in Europa League history when his club, Bayer Leverkusen face Ademola Lookman’s Atalanta in the final of the competition later this month.

Boniface has netted 11 times in 17 Europa League games across two seasons, behind Obafemi Martins who scored 13 goals in 27 appearances across five seasons.

The Leverkusen star scored six times in his debut season in the competition and was joint top scorer with Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford.

This season, the 23 year old has scored five goals and could have scored more if not foa an abductor injury that froced him to miss two games while has been an unused substiutes in three games, especially in the two semifinal ties against AS Roma.

Boniface will have regain his sarting shirt ahead of the final and score his first hat-trick of the competition if he wants to make history as the top scoring Nigerian in Europa League history.
