Ramotalahi Kareem has declared that Nigeria’s Falconets are ready for England after firing a hat-trick in their emphatic 10-1 demolition of New Caledonia at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland on Sunday.

Kareem struck in the 17th, 27th and 64th minutes as Nigeria produced a ruthless attacking display to seal their place in the Round of 16.

Rebecca Adegbemile also scored twice, while Winner Onajite David added a brace. Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei and Tosin Rafiu completed the rout, with New Caledonia’s Joceline Kourevi scoring a late consolation.

Kareem opened the scoring from the penalty spot after Rafiu brilliantly weaved past three defenders to win the spot-kick.

The forward then doubled Nigeria’s advantage before completing her hat-trick after the break, earning the Visa Player of the Match award for her outstanding display.

And with England now standing between the Falconets and a place in the quarter-finals, Kareem insists Nigeria are ready for the challenge.

‘We hope to achieve great things now that we’ve got through the group stage. I’m really pleased with my hat-trick,’ Kareem said.

‘My job is to score goals and helping the team today made me happy. We’re ready for the match against England. We’ll prepare as well as we possibly can for the Round of 16 against a strong side.’

Moses Aduku’s side will now carry the confidence of a 10-goal performance into their knockout clash with England as they bid to go deep into the tournament.
