Chukwueze Set For 170th Villarreal Appearance

Targets first LaLiga goal since April

Nigeria winger Samuel Chukwueze will be seeking to make his 170th appearance for LaLiga Santander side, Villarreal across all competitions when the Yellow Submarine travel face Real Sociedad at the Reale Seguros Stadium on Sunday.

Chukwueze made his debut for Villarreal in a Europa League group stage game against Scottish side, Rangers at the La Cerámica in September 2018. He featured for the final 11 minutes of the game.

The Nigeria international scored his first goal for the club in a Copa Del Rey game against UD Almeria at the start of November, 2018, playing for the entire duration of the game played at the Power Horse Stadium.

He then made his debut in the LaLiga a few days later, precisely November 4, 2018, playing for 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw with visiting Levante.

On Sunday, the former Nigeria FIFA U17 World Cup star will not only be eager to make his 170th appearance for Villarreal (126th in the LaLiga) but also score his first goal in the league since April when he netted at the Mendizorroza where Villarreal had gone to face their host, Deportivo Alavés.

The host won the game 2-1.

If he scores, it will be his first in the LaLiga this term and second against Real Sociedad in seven encounters.

The Super Eagle has scored 26 times in 169 games across all competitions for the club with 24 assists.

More than half of the goals (15) and 14 of the assists have come in 125 LaLiga games for the Nigerian.
