Emmanuel Dennis linked with move to Atalanta

Nottingham Forest’s Emmanuel Dennis is a transfer target for Serie A side, Atalanta, according to reports in Italy which claim Ademola Lookman’s club ‘are thinking’ about Dennis as they plot summer transfers.

The Nigerian’s future at Forest is bleak after failing to make an impact in his first season at the club in the Premier League as he started only six league matches, scoring two goals in 19 appearances.

Former Forest striker Nigel Jemson says Dennis ‘doesn’t fit’ into Forest’s style of play under manager Steve Cooper.

“Dennis, on his day he’s unplayable, but even then he doesn’t know what he’s doing. For me, the club are going to move on and he’ll be surplus to requirements.

“All you say in his defence is he’s an attacking player in a team which didn’t score many goals,” he said. “It’s easy to play that position in a team which creates five or six good chances a game but Forest didn’t.

“It was difficult for him. Brennan Johnson had that searing pace on the counter attack which Dennis doesn’t, so I do have some sympathy for him. What bothered me with him is I think his talent is greater than his performance.

“I think there’s so much talent in there but how you get it out of him is something many managers have found difficult to do on a consistent basis,’
Jemson told the Garibaldi Red podcast
