Ese Brume storms Stockholm, gunning for first Diamond League win on fifth attempt

World indoor and outdoor long jump silver medalist, Ese Brume will be seeking for her first win in a Diamond League
discipline when she files out for the long jump event at the Bauhaus Galan in Stockholm on Sunday.

The African record holder at 7.17m will also be looking to finish above reigning World and Olympics champion, Malaika
Mihambo for the second straight time.

The Nigerian leapt farther (6.58m for fourth) than Malaika (6.57m for fifth) at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea Diamond
League meeting in Florence, Italy at the start of June.

That was the first time Brume had finished higher than Malaika in 11 encounters and the 27 year old Nigerian will be hoping
to make a statement jump on Sunday ahead of the World Championships in Budapest.

Brume will be gunning for the gold in Budapest next month after winning bronze and silver in 2019 and 2022 respectively.

The highest the Nigerian had reached in the Diamond League was her second place finish (6.82m) at the Prefontaine Classic
in Eugene, Oregon last year.

She was first at the Memorial van Damme in Bruxelles, Belgium last year but the event was not a Diamond League discipline
at the meeting. It was one of the promotional events.

The last time Brume was at the Bauhaus Galan in Stockholm, she finished seventh and the Nigerian would be hoping to move
several steps up this time with her eyes firmly fixed on Budapest.
