Ese Brume to run in 4x100m event at Texas relay
Favour Ofili drafted to run in the 4x400m final for LSU
World indoor and oudoor long jump silver medalist, Ese Brume will return to the track Saturday at the Texas Relays in
Texas, USA some 70 days after she opened her 2023 season at the 1st ACAN Meet held in January at the Otunba Dipo Dina
Stadium in Ijebu Ode.
The multi-talented jumper has been listed in the Athletics Texas’ 4x100m relay team that will participate in the Women’s
4×100 Invitational event.
Brume will run the third leg with British sprinter, Annie Tagoe running the first leg and the 23 year old will hand over
the baton to 25 year old Nigerian Haisha Bisiolu while two-time World Championships’ finalist in the long jump event,
Lorraine Ugen running the anchor.
Brume’s Athletics Texas team will be up against a star-studded USA Gold team made up of Melissa Jefferson, Abby Steiner, Jenna Prandini and Aleia Hobbs and the USA Blue team of Cambrea Sturgis, Kayla White, English Gardner, Ashley Henderson in the eight team line up.
The 26 year old Brume who holds the African long jump record (7.17m) was in Team Nigeria’s 4x100m relay team to the delayed Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Meanwhile, Favour Ofili is not in Louisiana State University, LSU’s team that has been named to run in the University women’s 4x100m relay finals on Saturday.
The 20 year old who ran the second leg in the semifinals for LSU has been drafted to run in the women’s 4x400m final instead and will receive the baton from lead leg runner, Ella Onojuvwevwo.
The LSU 4x100m relay team will battle for the first place with a University of Texas team that has Rashidat Adeleke and Julien Alfred listed as well as a Baylor University relay team that will be anchored by 2021 World U20 champion, Imaobong Nse Uko.
