The Unity Cup has officially been confirmed as a FIFA Tier 1 event, marking a significant milestone for the tournament and reinforcing its growing international profile ahead of next week’s competition at The Valley in south-east London.

This year’s edition will feature four international teams viz Nigeria, Jamaica, India and Zimbabwe, competing across two semi-finals and a finals day between 26 and 30 May at Charlton Athletic’s historic home ground.

The opening semi-final will see Nigeria face Zimbabwe on Tuesday, 26 May, followed by Jamaica against India on Wednesday, 27 May. The third-place play-off and the final are scheduled for Saturday, 30 May.

Tournament organisers welcomed the FIFA Tier 1 designation as a major step forward, ensuring that all fixtures carry full international recognition under FIFA regulations.

They emphasized that the recognition not only elevates the competition’s stature but also continues the Unity Cup’s legacy of celebrating football, culture, and diaspora communities in London.
