Super Eagles Drop to 31st in FIFA Rankings After Guinea-Bissau Defeat
Slip to sixth in Africa as Morocco equal African record

The Super Eagles have dropped five places from 25th to 31st in the live FIFA rankings following their humiliating 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau on Tuesday in a 2027 AFCON qualifying match in Bissau.
The Nigerians had moved up a place from 26th to 25th after their laboured 2-1 win over Madagascar in their opening Group L game of the qualifying series, but the embarrassing defeat in Bissau has seen them drop five places in the world and to number six in Africa.
This ranking is considered unofficial until all matches are approved as international ‘A’ matches, but the final outcome when the official release comes out has largely been the same in the past.
With the international friendly against Russia later this month, the Super Eagles could either remain where they are now, move up, or drop further depending on both their results and that of the other nations around them.
Morocco remains the number one ranked nation in Africa and has moved up to fifth in the world, equalling Nigeria’s African record ranking.
Senegal dropped a step to 19th in the world but are still second in Africa, while Egypt remain 24th in the world and third in Africa.
Cote d’Ivoire moved three places up from 31st to 28th, while Algeria dropped a place from 29th to 30th.
