Zadok Yohanna’s Stunning Rise: How Nigeria’s Teenager Has Overtaken Super Eagles Stars

Zadok Yohanna has emerged as one of the biggest risers in Nigerian football, with the 19-year-old Brighton winger now valued above several established Super Eagles stars in the latest Premier League market assessment.

Yohanna is valued at €25 million, making him Nigeria’s second-most valuable Premier League player behind Fulham defender Calvin Bassey, who is worth €28 million.

What makes Yohanna’s valuation particularly striking is his age and his standing ahead of more experienced Nigerian internationals.

The Brighton right winger is valued €5 million more than Alex Iwobi, whose market value stands at €20 million, and €7 million above Nottingham Forest defender Ola Aina, valued at €18 million.

Yohanna is also ahead of Brighton teammate Femi Azeez, who is valued at €15 million.

The teenager’s market value is further supported by his rankings. He is ranked 423rd among all players worldwide and 192nd in the Premier League. At Brighton, he is the club’s 11th-ranked player, while he ranks fourth among Nigerian players worldwide.

His ranking as the 44th-best right winger globally also highlights the growing recognition of his potential.

Bassey, meanwhile, remains Nigeria’s top-ranked Premier League player. The Fulham centre-back is ranked 393rd worldwide and 183rd in the Premier League, while he is third among Fulham players and third among Nigerians.

Bassey is also ranked 66th among centre-backs worldwide.

Iwobi, despite being 30 and one of Nigeria’s most experienced internationals, is further down the rankings. The Fulham midfielder is ranked 592nd worldwide and 258th in the Premier League, while he is sixth among Nigerians.

His defensive-midfield ranking of 50th, however, shows that he remains highly regarded in his position.

The figures point to an interesting shift in Nigeria’s Premier League hierarchy.
