FIFA Women’s World Cup: Oshoala makes World Cup history, Ohale voted player of the match

Barcelona forward Asisat Oshoala has become the second Super Falcons player to make history at the ongoing FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The Lagos-born player scored Nigeria’s third goal in their 3-2 defeat of tournament’s co-host, Australia Thursday at the Brisbane stadium and entered his name into record book as the first Nigerian player to score in three Women’s World Cups.

Asisat Oshoala is the first Nigerian player to score in three Women’s World Cups.

She scored once in 2019 in the Falcons’ 2-0 defeat of South Korea at the Stade des Alpes in Grenoble, France and was also on target four years earlier in Germany where she also scored once in the 3-3 draw with Sweden.

Meanwhile, Osinachi Ohale was voted the VISA Player of the Match. The player put Nigeria ahead in the 3-2 defeat of Australia after the first half had ended 1-1.
