Finidi George happy with Eagles performance, rues mistakes in loss to Mali

Super Eagles interim coach Finidi George says he is satisfied with the way his side played despite losing 2-0 to Mali in an international feindly on Wednesday in Marakech, Morocco.
The former Nigeria international winger however rued the mistake that led to the defeat.
“I think just a few mistakes cost us the match. It was not a bad game, good intensity, we created a couple of chances we didn’t score. In a game like this, if you don’t score, you will be punished. But I think I’m happy with the way the boys played; it was quite positive”, he said.
The Enyimba of Aba coach also spoke on the 3-5-2 formation he deployed in the game and the 2-1 defeat of Ghana in the first friendly game.two matches.
“The 3-5-2 formation is not bad at all. This is a team that keeps the ball very well and if we had used one striker, we would have changed that striker immediately. Using two strikers helped us, it forced them to play wide, it allowed us to press more. It is an aggressive team (Mali) you know, we talked about it and football being what it is, it is about victory but I’m looking at other aspects of the game which I think we controlled. We created some chances but we couldn’t score. Overall, I think I ‘m happy”, said the former Super Eagles winger.
