Friday Night EuroMatchNPFL Returns as MBI Boosts Live Coverage

Friday night football is returning to the EuroMatchNPFL from Matchday 8 as organisers adjust the 2026/27 fixture schedule to allow more matches to be shown live.

The change follows meetings between the league, broadcast partners Murphy Ben International (MBI) and AfroSoccer, with clubs to be grouped into regional clusters to make match coverage easier.

In a memo dated October 2 and addressed to club chairmen and general managers, EuroMatchNPFL Chief Operating Officer Dr Ayo Abdulrahman said the original fixture schedule did not provide broadcast partners with enough access to match days.

‘After several meetings with the broadcast partners, Murphy Ben International, and AfroSoccer, it was agreed that for fair and balanced coverage, clubs will be grouped in regional clusters to limit the logistics of travelling with fairly big outside broadcast equipment over long distances,’ Abdulrahman said.

‘Furthermore, it has been resolved to introduce Friday kickoff, Friday night matches, early kickoff on Saturdays, and Sundays at applicable venues.’

From Matchday 8, fans will have three live games across the Katsina and Kano clusters, with a Friday night match in Katsina followed by Saturday and Sunday fixtures in Kano involving Ranchers Bees and Barau FC.

The schedule changes also come as MBI strengthens its production capacity with the acquisition of new equipment to support wider coverage of the league.

MBI Team Lead Olatunji Ayodele said the investment would enable the company to move more quickly between venues and provide live coverage without the need for the large production setups traditionally used for football broadcasts.

‘The result is a more nimble production model that combines professional camera acquisition, local production and resilient internet connectivity, allowing MBI to scale its coverage while responding efficiently to the demands of live football production,’ Ayodele said.

The league expects the combination of regional scheduling and MBI’s expanded production capacity to increase the number of EuroMatchNPFL matches available to fans live throughout the season.
