Galatasaray: We Are Not Considering Selling Osimhen
Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has spoken clearly about the future of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, who has been linked with several European giants during the transfer window.
Speaking to HT Spor, Özbek detailed the complexities of Osimhen’s transfer from Napoli and reaffirmed the club’s stance on keeping their star forward.
‘It was a very difficult transfer,’ Özbek admitted. ‘We loaned Victor Osimhen first and he performed amazingly. He loved Galatasaray and Turkey very much. He said he would stay at Galatasaray and we started talking with Napoli.
‘There is a €75 million exit clause and we moved in that direction. Napoli asked for guarantees, and this was the first time I saw such procedures. We paid part in advance, and I personally contributed €35 million from my own company. Osimhen showed with his performance that he deserves this investment. I’m glad we bought him.’
Özbek was emphatic about the club’s position: ‘We are not considering selling Victor Osimhen! Putting a price on a player you don’t plan to sell is like putting a frost on an unborn footballer.’
His comments come amid speculation that clubs such as Barcelona and Arsenal are monitoring the striker, whose market value remains at €75 million according to Transfermarkt’s latest update.
Osimhen has been central to Galatasaray’s success this season, scoring 22 goals and providing 8 assists in 33 matches.
His impact has reinforced his reputation as one of the elite forwards in world football.
