Iheanacho Confirms Desire to Stay at Celtic

Celtic striker Kelechi Iheanacho has declared his intention to remain at the club next season, following his decisive contribution in the Scottish Cup final victory over Dunfermline Athletic.

The Nigerian forward came off the bench to score Celtic’s third goal in a 3-1 win, sealing the triumph and underlining his value to the squad.

Speaking to club media after the match, Iheanacho expressed his affection for the supporters and the city.

‘I love the supporters, I love them all,’ Iheanacho said. ‘Everyone in the streets of Glasgow, people recognise me. I am happy. The whole of Glasgow is a great city. Hopefully, I will be here next season. I am really happy to wear a Celtic shirt and to play for them with all my heart.’

Iheanacho joined Celtic as a free agent shortly after last summer’s transfer deadline, signing a one-year contract with an option for the club to extend it by a further 12 months.

His performance in the Cup final has strengthened calls for the club to trigger the extension, ensuring his continued presence in the squad.
