Iheanacho Targets First Goal Against Liverpool In Eight Games

Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho will be seeking to score his first goal against in eight appearances when Leicester City visit Anfield Thursday evening for a Premier League game.

Liverpool remain the only top eight side the 25 year old Nigerian has not scored against and the former Manchester City player who has scored twice in 11 appearances against his former side will be hoping to add Liverpool to one of his victims.

Iheanacho has scored once against Chelsea and Arsenal; twice against Tottenham and Everton and thrice against West Ham and Manchester United.

While Iheanacho is eager to score against Liverpool, his compatriot at the King Power stadium, Wilfred Ndidi will be seeking his second goal involvement in his 12th meeting with the club.

Ndidi provided an assist in the Foxes 3-1 defeat of Jurgen Klopp’s side at the King Power stadium in February last year in a Premier League game and he will, a year after wants to either score or provide another assist as he wants to help his club to victory.

Meanwhile, Leicester City are looking to complete the league double over Liverpool for the first time since the 1998/99 season under Martin O’Neill.

Gaffer Brendan Rodgers will also be looking to become only the second former Reds manager in history to complete a league double over them after leaving the club, after Kenny Dalglish in 1993/94 with Blackburn Rovers.

Against no side has Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp lost more Premier League matches than he has versus Leicester (four, level with Manchester City).

The Foxes are looking to become the first team since Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund in 2014/15 to beat a Klopp side twice in a league season.

Liverpool are however unbeaten in their last 14 Premier League contests at Anfield (W10 D4) and have won their last five in a row, their best home winning run since an eight-match streak between July and December 2020.
